Gouris AI: English Learning (Android app) and gouris.com
Last updated: October 20, 2026
GOURIS ("we", "our", "us") runs the website gouris.com and the Gouris AI: English Learning mobile app (together, the "Platform"). This policy explains what information we collect, why, and how we protect it.
By using the Platform, you agree to the practices in this policy. It is written to follow the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 ("DPDP Act") and other Indian data protection laws.
Account information, when you sign in with Google:
Diya. When you use voice input with Diya, your recording is made on your device, sent to our server, turned into text by a speech-to-text service, and deleted from our servers after that.
Speak. In Speak, when you choose to answer with your voice, your recording is sent once to Google Cloud's Gemini service to check what you said. It is not stored by us or by Google, and it is not used to train any AI model. The text of what was heard is shown to you and is not kept. The "You said" playback is a temporary file on your phone, deleted when the lesson ends.
Talk with Diya. When you talk through a scene with Diya, each recording is sent once to Google Cloud's Gemini service, which works out what you said and writes Diya's next line. Diya's lines, and any correction you tap to hear, are turned into speech by Google Cloud Text-to-Speech. Neither we nor Google keep your recording, and it is not used to train any AI model. The conversation stays on your phone; we keep only how many talk turns you have used.
Voice is always optional. You can tap your answers instead, everywhere in the app.
What you would like Diya to call you (for example chechi or sir — this also tells us which form of a sentence to use), your answers about your goals, your age band, your placement result, and how many speaking turns you have used. We use this to choose your lessons and lines. It is deleted with your account.
When you talk with Diya, our AI English companion, we store your text messages and transcribed voice messages, Diya's replies, conversation details (topic, times, length) and usage counts. We use this to run the conversation, keep your history and improve your learning.
In the Android app, purchases are made through Google Play Billing. We receive the order details and status, never your card or UPI details.
On the website, payments are handled by Razorpay. We do not store your full card or UPI details on our servers.
We keep transaction records — purchase ID, pass or course, amount, currency and status — for billing, support and tax.
Your data is stored on servers in India.
We keep your personal data while your account is active. Voice recordings are processed in real time and not stored. Conversation history is kept for your reference. When you ask us to delete your account, your personal information is deleted within 30 days, except data we must keep by law (such as transaction records for tax). How to delete your account.
These services have their own privacy policies, and we encourage you to read them.
To use any of these rights, email us at the address in section 11.
On the website we use essential cookies (for sign-in and security) and functional cookies (to remember your settings). The app stores your session and preferences in secure storage on your phone; this stays on your device and is not shared.
Our Platform is intended for users aged 13 and above. Users between 13 and 18 should use the Platform with parental consent. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has given us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
If a data breach may affect your personal information, we will tell you and the relevant authorities as the DPDP Act and other laws require, by email to your registered address.
We store data mainly in India. Some service providers may process data outside India — in particular, voice recordings and messages processed by our AI providers. We make sure such transfers follow the law and are protected.
We may update this policy. We will post the new version on this page with a new "Last updated" date. Using the Platform after a change means you accept the updated policy.
